ABOUT ABOUT

“Eleanor” is a framework in which to approach the topic of human uniqueness and exceptionalism. First lady Eleanor Roosevelt's life is the vehicle to explore the desire humans have to be better than those before them. A truly (instinctual?) wish to want more for yourself, even when you already have more than all of those that surround you. The mission, is to employ any tactic you need to rise above those that wish to oppress you. All the while you become oppressing in all you do. To know that you are more than how you were born, if you choose to be, is coupled with believing you are more than how others were born as well. These qualities can be for the better of all humans especially women, queers, and people of color, as demonstrated by Eleanor Roosevelt and her acts of humanity. OR this can lead to the nationalist downfall of powerful white men and the power structures they self create. “Eleanor” is the twenty minute beginning of a three part project that looks at exceptional human historical acts through an evening of performance physical art with a working title of, “Eleanor, Speer, and Darwin:Exceptionalism Realized.”
