The Body of Silence is a three-hour artist intensive with Jay Ruby, choreographer, performance artist, and director and founder of the Carpetbag Brigade.
Provoking the mind with imagery, sensation, and vocalization, The Body of Silence invites us to slow down our mechanistic responses, suspend our physical inhibitions and awaken our senses to dance with the unknown.
Mixing elements of butoh dance and physical theater The Body of Silence invokes a sonorous physicality through concentration, release, shifting balance and detailed sculpting of the body and voice. This relational laboratory in expressive capacity is for dancers, actors, yogis, dreamers, and writers to spend an afternoon engaging the core of being together.
