ABOUT ABOUT

Elektranostop is an original work of dance-theater exploring revolutionary impulses, protest, political violence, and the search for justice. It reimagines the ancient Greek myth of Orestes and Elektra as a digital ritual between audience and performers set within the pristine, hyper-technological halls of a post-industrial government on the verge of collapse. Thrust suddenly into a web of deceit and violence by the murder of their father, Orestes, the rightful heir to the throne, and his sister, Elektra, must decide where their loyalties lie: with the murdered father, or with their mother who killed him. With their time rapidly dwindling, they must confront a world of moral contradiction, where right and wrong are hopelessly entangled, and where any action they take will leave them spiritually compromised. Created by former members of Orange Theatre, the piece continues their exploration into developing a new performance style combining live theater, dance, film, architecture, music, sound into a hybrid of live and mediated experiences that challenge audiences to engage with complex issues of gender, sexuality, race, justice, story, and truth that define our contemporary world.
