“Installment 3:Instinctually Human”

Installment 3:Instinctually Human by Jordan Daniels is part of a three part research endeavor over the last three years. Installment 3 is both a culmination and a new beginning. A finish to three years of indulgent visceral experience. The goal was to reprogram common knowledge and stigmas associated with millennials and those that have felt victimized by agism in our artistic and professional structures. A pursuit of the project was to be open to my community, but growth came from seeing, participating, synthesizing, repeat, seeing, participating, synthesizing, repeat. Vocabulary and academic incquiry has been rooted in the bias presented by our current generational gap of those who have "made it" and those that "will never." I was alone for parts, I was in my inside place but amongst people for most of it. People of all ages, sizes, backgrounds. People are the life blood of the research, people(humans) are the subject. Who are we right now? What is a fucking millennial in physical, logical, moral, economic, pragmatic, practical, social, cultural, mental, evolved, independent, but ultimately mostly physical ways? I did not come up with answers, I came up with decisions. How I would mingle, slither, mold, engage, dilute, replace, adapt, change, and ultimately how I grow is folded into the layers of this work. 40(sometimes 45) minutes of performance art created from my eyes, and my body, for you.

***Installment 3:Instinctually Human is a solo work performed and created by Jordan Daniels. Installation of tarp and bucket chandelier installed in space by Jordan Daniels

“Eleanor”

“Eleanor” is a framework in which to approach the topic of human uniqueness and exceptionalism. First lady Eleanor Roosevelt's life is the vehicle to explore the desire humans have to be better than those before them. A truly (instinctual?) wish to want more for yourself, even when you already have more than all of those that surround you. The mission, is to employ any tactic you need to rise above those that wish to oppress you. All the while you become oppressing in all you do. To know that you are more than how you were born, if you choose to be, is coupled with believing you are more than how others were born as well. These qualities can be for the better of all humans especially women, queers, and people of color, as demonstrated by Eleanor Roosevelt and her acts of humanity. OR this can lead to the nationalist downfall of powerful white men and the power structures they self create. “Eleanor” is the twenty minute beginning of a three part project that looks at exceptional human historical acts through an evening of performance physical art with a working title of, “Eleanor, Speer, and Darwin:Exceptionalism Realized.”
